Into the Pyrenees – 1 – Cauterets, the Pont d’ Espagna, and the World Cup win

France wins and Cauterets celebrates

In a quite valley

In the Pyrenees

A few sort miles from Spain

Over the Pont d’ Espagna

Cascading

Water

Bringing joy and beauty

On the bridge to Spain

In the Haute Pyrenees

And in bars in Cauterets the faithful watch the world cup being won

And the Gendarme too sounded the victory siren

In Cauterets when France won the World Cup.

  1. Awesome locations….the journey must be even better! And the weather……
    Safe rides Mick….

  2. So nice to see images of the Pyrenees. Cauterets is a place we spent a lot of time in Summer when I was a kid. Seeing the Lake de Gaube and the Vignemal in one of your photos was really special.

  3. Love your photos! I have never been to the Pyrenees. They love their football, though! I was on Av des Champs Elysees when France was “runner up” in 2006 and they were standing on their cars with their flag! Italy won and they were still thrilled to have been runner up. They were honking their horns and yelling and hooting and hollerin I can’t even imagine how it would be when they actually won! haha. Lucky you! : )
